What Is Sugar Addiction?
“All I ever wanted in life was sugar.” –Andy Warhol
When the subject of Sugar Addiction arises, many people jokingly say, “Oh, I’ve got that, I love chocolate!” But true addicts struggle with much more than a simple love of chocolate.
Every sugar addict is sugar sensitive. This means that after eating sugar, their blood sugar spikes and drops much faster than a normal person’s. Their brain chemistry is also affected. By creating massive swings in the amount of mood controlling neurotransmitters in their brains, sugar creates nasty side affects in many people.
Sugar Addiction Symptoms:
· Anxiety
· Depression
· Mood swings
· Edginess
· Overly sensitive emotions
· Racing thoughts
· Yo-Yo dieting
· Extreme hunger between meals
· Sweaty palms
· Overwhelming sugar cravings
· Inability to have just one cookie, piece of candy, etc.
If you struggle with any of the above symptoms, it is very likely that you are sugar sensitive. It is also very likely that you are “sick and tired of being sick and tired.” You are fed up with seeing bigger and bigger numbers on your bathroom scale and you are ready to take action.
